When Ashley first joined Good Learning Anywhere, she was eager to take online courses but struggled with taking her time and completing tasks in her courses. When a course became too difficult, she would ask to be removed and immediately start another. Learning online was a struggle for Ashley.

Ashley was assigned her current mentor, Petra, this past January. They began to meet virtually a few times a month to discuss her course and learning plan. They would also chat about daily life and it would often become a family affair when her Mom would pop in to say hi. Ashley was encouraged to focus on just one course at a time and take the time to complete the tasks.   She worked on reaching out to Petra when she was having trouble with a task, rather than just skipping it or dropping the course. Petra has seen a great improvement in Ashley’s online communication and learning skills during the time they have worked together and this is why she nominated her for the GLA Learner of the Month.

Ashley has become a participant in her Mentors Café monthly and contributes to the discussion. She works in Edmentum, Spellzone, and has attempted a few Moodle courses and Adobe live classes. Ashley also attends online learning with her Instructor from Hill Park. Ashley has a goal to attend college one day and together Ashley and Petra are working on continuing to build skills and habits that prepare her for this. Congratulations Ashley! At GLA, we are all very proud of your determination.
