Good Learning Anywhere would like to congratulate Christine Butler for becoming April’s Learner of the Month.
Christine registered with GLA in February 2018 and has been working on her courses consistently and diligently. Her goal is to improve her skills so she can help her 9-year-old son with his homework. She has completed the Moodle course Write an Essay and then moved on to the Accucess Reading Assessment where she has completed many of the post-assessment assigned tasks, working a total of 34 hours. Christine has also completed the Math Accucess and has spent 24 hours working on her math assignments. She was also enrolled in Math Essential Skills course but was having issues with ‘Flash’ on her computer. After discussing the issue with her mentor, she decided to try the Live Saba courses Introduction to Online Learning and Everyday Math. Unfortunately, Christine experienced more technical difficulties – however, she didn’t give up and reached out again for help via email as she did not have access to a phone. With the support of her mentor, Christine was successful in downloading SABA and she has since been actively participating in the Everyday Math course. She really enjoyed the first class and sent her mentor an email letting them know that the ‘lady’ online was very helpful.
Christine is very focused and is trying to improve her situation through learning. She is a positive example to her son. All of us here at GLA have a lot of respect for her hard work and the time she is devoting to better herself. Her Mentor Sharon always looks forward to communicating with Christine and was proud to see her achieve GLA Learner of the Month.
I would like to second this nomination! Christine has been a welcome addition to Everyday Math! She was very uncertain of her math skills in the first class, but after a couple of weeks, she is now, willingly, answering questions, filling up text chat with positive notes, and overall, really enjoying her time in our Saba class. She is a sweet soul, who works very hard for everything she accomplishes in life. She would be so honoured to receive this award! – Jami Clouthier
