Please join us in congratulating Caroline Sanford on being SHLC’s January 2023 Learner of the Month.
Caroline was nominated by her mentor, Jaclyne. Here is an excerpt of what Jaclyne submitted to us about Caroline.
Caroline came to us in November 2022 and has been working on improving her computer skills. She has been in constant communication with her mentor and has been dedicated to working on her GLA courses while taking care of her babies at home.
She started with Northstar Digital Literacy through GLA and completed all 9 Northstar courses available to her at the time: Basic Computer Skills, Using Email, Internet Basics, Microsoft Word, Windows 10, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Social Media, and Career Exploration Skills. Caroline was the first learner to receive a Northstar certificate for all of the Northstar assessments for these courses. Caroline has continued to take GLA courses to improve her computer skills over December even though her babies and her caught a bad cold, and she is also in the process of returning to work from maternity leave.
Even with some barriers, Caroline is excited to return to work and wishes to continue with her online GLA studies with a goal to eventually start her own business in the future. Caroline’s hard work and dedication is apparent. She is a hard working mom, employee, and student. For these reasons and more, Caroline deserves to be recognized as GLA’s learner of the month.
We decided to ask Caroline some questions so we could share more about her story with you.
How did you first hear about online learning with Good Learning Anywhere?
Through a friend who decided to start taking classes through Contact North.
Did you have any struggles during your learning? If so, how did you overcome them?
No.
What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting to improve their skills?
Just start, just do it, make time for it, knowledge is never a bad thing.
What is your greatest achievement? Or what accomplishment are you most proud of?
Finding time in my busy life to keep learning.
What are your goals for the future?
Keep learning, maybe one day have a business but still learning through it.
