Please join us in congratulating Morgan Longhurst-Fisher on being SHLC’s October 2022 Learner of the Month.
Morgan was nominated by her mentor, Shannon. Here is an excerpt of what Shannon submitted to us about Morgan.
Morgan began working with us in October. She is very responsive to her mentor and really has a passion for learning. So far, she has completed 12 Moodle courses and has got her WHMIS and Food Safety Certification. Morgan is very on top of her courses, always letting her mentor or course instructor know when she has completed a course and needs another one. Morgan had a goal of working as a Personal Support Worker and took every course we offered that could relate to her goals. Recently, Morgan applied for the Personal Support Worker program through Northern College and got accepted! Morgan has been an inspiration and has shown what hard work and dedication can accomplish when you set your mind to something.
We decided to ask Morgan some questions so we could share more about her story with you.
How did you first hear about online learning with Good Learning Anywhere?
Contact North.
Did you have any struggles during your learning? If so, how did you overcome them?
I struggled in one course so what I did to overcome that struggle, was take multiple small breaks. I found that helped quite a bit.
What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting to improve their skills?
Tell yourself you can achieve it because you can! Do it everyday, at your own pace, and you will find yourself completing many many challenges! While feeling so good about your accomplishments.
What is your greatest achievement? Or what accomplishment are you most proud of?
My greatest achievement is earning approximately 15 certificates in two months.
What are your goals for the future?
My goals for the future is to get job placement in the medical field. One step at a time, one day at a time.
Is there anyone you would like to thank for supporting you on this journey?
I would like to thank Shannon, she has been such an amazing instructor. Not only for education support, but for personal support as well.
Is there anything else you would like to share with people about winning this award?
I honestly had no idea this was even a thing, until my instructor e-mailed me telling me she had nominated me and I won. It really brightened my day! This just shows that hard work really does pay off.
Congratulations Morgan! All the best in 2022!
