Meet Daniel!

Daniel attends a classroom Literacy Basic Skills program, Alpha En Partage de Sudbury Est and has been registered with Good Learning Anywhere since March of 2019.  He is enrolled in the independent learning platform Plato. He has completed Music Appreciation, as well as Math Essential Skills Levels 1, 2 and 3.  He is now starting GED Prep – Math Part 1. Robyn L is his online mentor and really appreciates and admires Daniel’s tenacity and work ethic. Daniel spends a lot of time on his lessons each week and works at his mastery tests until he passes them.  He is great at communicating on a regular basis and we are all very proud of his progress!

The Program Coordinator/Facilitator of Alpha EN Partage de Sudbury Est shared with us:

Dan is a wonderful gentleman, he is very friendly and the class comedian.  He loves to chat with the learners and staff at our centre. Dan is also a musician, he plays the guitar and sings with a local band in our area.  He is a country and old rock fan, his favorites are Johnny Cash and Garth Brooks. Dan is also a Montreal Canadiens fan. His challenge this year has been his eyes as he has cataracts.  Another major challenge for Dan was learning computers, and online courses. The greatest challenge for Dan was completing his schooling in English, as his first language is French. He is enjoying the work and the communication between both of you.

Daniel’s experience with blended programming in LBS demonstrates the successful way online and classroom programs can coordinate to support a client’s learning plan. Dan had previously registered with GLA, but he was new to computers. With the support of his onsite instructors, and Dan’s tenacity for learning, since March he has been an online learning Rockstar!

Daniel has such a positive attitude and has accomplished and overcome a lot. Congratulations Daniel on being SHLC’s September 2019 Learner of the Month!
