We are excited to introduce you to Joanne!

Joanne is described as an extremely dedicated learner who always works hard on her courses. Her goal is to get a job in an office and she is working with her online GLA mentor and her Contact North site to choose courses that will help her gain the skills and experience to meet her goal.

We think that Joanne is well on her way to being a great addition to any office as she consistently communicates in a polite way and even sends a thank you when she receives her certificate or login to a new course. She always answers phone calls from GLA in a pleasant way and our staff always look forward to speaking with her.

This fall, Joanne is currently working on Healthcare Worker Essential Skills, Mindfulness Matters in Moodle as well as a couple of Independent courses in Plato.

Joanne makes my job of mentoring easy! She is always pleasant to talk to and is so hard working! I feel Joanne is very deserving of this award and I encourage her to continue working towards her goal

– Sharon M. (online GLA Mentor)

At GLA, we feel Joanne would be an excellent addition to any office team with her dedication to her goal, hard work, and personality! Congratulations on being chosen October Learner of the month! Let’s hear more from Joanne and her journey at Good Learning Anywhere:

How did you first hear about online learning with Good Learning Anywhere?

Rose Gavin from St. Lawrence Employment Services gave me a business card with Petra Blain’s name on it for Good Learning.

Did you have any struggles during your learning? If so, how did you overcome them?

I tried accounting but stopped it, I wasn’t ready for the course. This was okay with them.

What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting to improve their skills?

To try out Good Learning (Anywhere), lots of courses to take that may interest them. Wonderful help from instructors.

What is your greatest achievement? Or what accomplishment are you most proud of?

Doing the courses to better my skills and learn new ones

What are your goals for the future?

Maybe a supervisor position. Continuing my learning.

Is there anyone you would like to thank for supporting you on this journey?

Yes, Petra Blain and Sharon Mestwarp. Petra introduced me to the GLA courses and she checks in to see how I am doing. Sharon does the same and gets back to me as soon as she can if I have problems. Sharon is a great help.

Is there anything else you would like to share with people about winning this award?

Thank you very much. I always like to learn.
