Lifelong learning. It’s a term that is used often in education, but our March Learner of the Month demonstrates what this truly means.

We would like you to meet Erik. Erik found us through the adult learning centre TR Leger and registered with Good Learning Anywhere (GLA) in December 2019 with a goal of improving his math skills. He has been working in Edmentum (Plato) on GED Math Level One. His mentor Nida wrote that he has over 97 hours in independent learning with an average of 86%. What most impresses his instructor is Erik’s determination and ability to “try again” if he is not successful on his first attempt.  On one of their recent weekly conversations, Nida asked how he was managing with the COVID-19 threat, and he wrote:

Nida, thank you or your email and your concern, we are doing okay here. My wife and I are over 80 years old so we just stay home.

Thank you, Erik, for being an inspiration to all of us and remind us to strive to be determined as  “life long long” learners.

How did you first hear about online learning with Good Learning Anywhere?

From my daughter Solveig.

Did you have any struggles during your learning? If so, how did you overcome them?

Yes. But I had a lot of help from Solveig.

What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting to improve their skills?

Go to TR Leger and start learning.

What is your greatest achievement? Or what accomplishment are you most proud of?

I learned something about algebra.

What are your goals for the future?

Learn more of what I did not learn when I went to school as a kid.

Is there anyone you would like to thank for supporting you on this journey?

Nida for your encouragement and Solveigs.

Is there anything else you would like to share with people about winning this award?

I am very happy about it, but also a little embarrassed, I had a lot of help.

Is there anything else you would like to share with people about winning this award?

Go and do it yourself, you will never know what you will accomplish.
