Please join us in congratulating Lynne Sparrow on being SHLC’s July 2022 Learner of the Month.
Lynne was nominated by her mentor, Robyn. Here is an excerpt of what Robyn submitted to us about Lynne.
“I’ve been working with Lynne on and off since March 2021. Despite some personal challenges and moving twice in the last year, Lynne has completed a number of Moodle courses including Exploring How Things Came to Be, Healthcare Worker Essential Skills, Back to Basics: Intro to Writing, Cricut Design, Intro to Food Safety and AZ/DZ 1. In Edmentum, she has completed Math Essential Skills Level 1 and 2, and Writing Essential Skills Levels 1, 2 and 3. She successfully achieved her certification in Safe Food Handling and has attended a number of Live Classes.
In addition to working very hard on her own upgrading, Lynne has been a fantastic support to her classmates. Last summer, Lynne began tutoring a couple of ladies in her class, and assisting them with their Edmentum, Moodle and Spellzone courses. Those learners have also made some excellent progress in our program.
Lynne communicates regularly about her own learning and goals, and is never afraid to ask for help when she needs it. She has modelled great self-management and self-direction for her classmates. In addition to working hard on her online learning, she has been a volunteer.
I am so proud of all that Lynne has accomplished, and I look forward to seeing what she does next!”
