Good Learning Anywhere (GLA) would like to congratulate Bekah Akerly for being voted as February’s Learner of the Month.  Her GLA mentor, Sharon M. proudly nominated Bekah and is a firm believer that she is very deserving of this award.

Bekah communicates weekly with her mentor and is always pleasant.  However, what really has impressed Sharon is that during her time with GLA, Bekah has had several medical and personal issues come up – but despite these challenges, Bekah has been determined to complete her courses.  Bekah is working toward her employment goal of getting a job in a hospital. Through discussions with her mentor, she has been referred back to her local Contact North Recruitment Officer to explore options for online college programs that are OSAP eligible.

Bekah has completed a remarkable total of 384 hours on her independent courses. She has received several certificates of completion and is currently working on upgrading her math skills in Plato.  Her marks are impressive, and so is her work ethic.

Here at GLA, we can all agree that Bekah has a lot of potential and we are confident that no matter what obstacles or challenges Bekah may come across, she is determined and will overcome them to reach her goals.

How did you first hear about online learning with Good Learning Anywhere?

From my local community Contact North representative.

Did you have any struggles during your learning? If so, how did you overcome them?

I had a few minor struggles just with remembering certain things I learned throughout the course and then having to write the test. I just took more in-depth notes to help myself remember.

What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting to improve their skills?

Take your time going through each course! Starting something new can be exciting and you just want to rush right in! Don’t! Take your time, really learn it all!

What is your greatest achievement? Or what accomplishment are you most proud of?

I think to finish each course with an average of 80% or higher! I took pride in high school with my high marks and just wanted to continue that!

What are your goals for the future?

My goals for the future would be to enroll in college!! Take everything I’ve learned through these lessons and put it to use in graduating from a post-secondary school!

Is there anyone you would like to thank for supporting you on this journey?

I would like to thank my GLA Mentor Sharon M.! She is always huge support and constantly encouraging!

Is there anything else you would like to share with people about winning this award?

Just thank you for choosing me! It’s a big accomplishment for me to be recognized for my hard work!
