Tony has been a long-time learner with GLA and we are always pleased to have him in our classes. He is a mature learner and has some struggles to deal with but always shows up with a smile and an eagerness for learning. So far he has completed dozens of courses and has a waiting list of those he plans on completing. Tony is great at setting goals and accomplishing them.
Tony communicates regularly with his mentor, which is definitely key to being a successful online learner. He also has a lot of life experience which he brings to the classroom. Tony reminds us that as adult educators, it is important for us to honour that knowledge.
Tony has taken GLA’s Creative Writing online course and was recently a presenter at the Sharing Circle. One of Tony’s many gifts is writing and his powerful pieces have moved our staff to tears when he shares.
Another example of Tony’s goal setting has been his goal to fill his wall with his accomplishments to celebrate his many gifts. As you can see from the picture Contact North – Manitoulin posted he is working hard on this! Tony is a dedicated learner and we believe he is deserving of Sioux-Hudson Literacy Council’s November Learner of the Month.
