Meet Edie! Edie is the VERY FIRST learner her mentor (Elysa) has ever nominated for the Learner of the Month award. According to Elysa,
I’ve had, and have, a lot of great learners to mentor but I wanted to take this opportunity to recognize Edie.
When Edie joined us at GLA in July 2018, she had been unemployed for an extended period of time and receiving income support. During her registration she wrote in the “About You” section:
I’m not a very computer person
As you will see by all the courses that she has completed, Edie challenged that and overcame it. Edie also expressed that she was frustrated with her ability to retain information as she progresses through her courses — something many of us understand — but this hasn’t stopped her either.
Edie has completed 7 courses with GLA and is currently working on Culinary Arts in our Plato platform.
In December, Edie’s mentor received an email from Edie with some exciting news – that she had started a new job as a Billing Specialist! We at Good Learning Anywhere couldn’t have been happier for her! Currently, Edie is continuing her learning at GLA, but will be working on her courses on the weekends from now on.
