When starting something new, the road we take is not always smooth but if we choose to stick with it we will see the rewards. This is the case for our February Learner of the Month. When Aaron first registered there were issues with getting access to start his course. When he couldn’t locate the original email he took the initiative to call our office. His mentor returned his call and remembers he was very kind and patient as she re-sent his login to his new email address and stayed on the phone with him while he logged in to the course.  He has now completed the G1 Drivers course and is almost finished Ready for Work. He is also registered in some of our upcoming live courses.

His Mentor Sharon is very proud of his accomplishments in our program so far, as he participated quite a bit in the short time he’s been with GLA.  When faced with the login challenge, he didn’t give up but took the initiative to reach out to our office and ask for assistance. He is now an active GLA participant and is working hard to improve his future.

Courses completed: G1 Drivers Test, Be Your Own Boss: Create a Business Plan

In progress:  Ready for Work

Upcoming Live courses: Self-Management -Self Direction: Communications, Exploring First Nation Cultures: Misconceptions and Stereotypes

Contact North locations across Ontario provide access to learning opportunities to their community members. Aaron is working out of the Contact North Centre in M’Chigeeng. Sarah the SRSR at the centre had this to share about Aaron:

Aaron Nahwegezhic is a kind and courteous person who is always smiling and ready to lend a helping hand.  He came in to our office at Contact North looking for help getting his G1 and he hasn’t stopped taking classes since.  He is usually in the centre before I even get here in the morning and he stays all day, working on his classes. He has a genuine desire to learn and the type of personality that makes assisting him in these pursuits an absolute pleasure.  I would highly recommend him for “Learner of the Month”, as he strives to learn something new every day and has put the required work in to do just that.
