September Learner of Month: Courtney Hall

Categories: Blog,Learners & Awards,News

Congratulations to Courtney Hall for being chosen as Good Learning Anywhere’s Learner of the Month.

Since she enrolled in December 2016, she has completed five courses earning high marks and is currently working on four more. With a focus on sciences, medical and computers, that equals a full academic course load!  Courtney is often completing 15-20 hours a week of online learning in her PLATO programs. Consistent communication with her Mentor, academic modelling, professional work, and study habits have enabled Courtney to be successful in her Good Learning Anywhere courses.

We asked Courtney to share a little bit about her learning journey.  Here is what she had to say:

How did you first hear about online learning with Good Learning Anywhere?

I heard about Good Learning Anywhere through Contact North.

Did you have any struggles during your learning? If so, how did you overcome them?

The biggest struggle I have had is that I have depression and a generalized anxiety disorder. With that being said, it has made it hard most days to find the motivation to work on the courses, but through the help of my therapist, my family and my own determination, I have been able to be successful with the courses.

What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting to improve their skills?

The advice I would give someone is that you have to make sure it is really something you want to do and that you will stick to. It takes a lot of discipline and determination to get through these courses. The trick is to not let yourself get discouraged and to just keep pushing through.

What is your greatest achievement? Or what accomplishment are you most proud of?

My greatest achievement is that I have worked so hard on these courses, getting good marks and in turn getting learner of the month.

What are your goals for the future?

My goals for the future is to go to Niagara College and have a career in the medical field.

Is there anyone you would like to thank for supporting you on this journey?

I would like to thank my mom, she has always been there to support me. I would also like to thank my instructor Nida Doherty, she has been so helpful and encouraging.

Is there anything else you would like to share with people about winning this award?

I am grateful for this award and that hard work does pay off.
